A brow lift (forehead lift) restores a fresh and open look to the face
For those who prefer not to choose surgery, aesthetic medicine offers an attractive alternative based on the use of Botox Read more >>
Objective:
Nowadays a brow lift is usually carried out using endoscopy. Its effect is to beautify and smooth the top of the face and forehead. At the same time it lifts the eyebrows. This produces a more youthful open look and improves the contours of the forehead. The eyes regain their natural prominence and the overall facial expression is lighter. This procedure is rapidly increasing in popularity, among both men and women.
The operation:
The brow lift may be carried out at a day clinic or in hospital. Incisions are made within the hair on both sides. Guided by the endoscope, the surgeon frees the skin near the muscles of the forehead and the muscles between the eyebrows. The muscles which produce frown lines are surgically weakened, and then the skin is drawn tighter upwards and the excess skin brought towards the rear of the head. The incisions must be carefully sutured.
After-effects of the operation
A brow lift has relatively few after-effects. The traction of the lift on the forehead produces a feeling of tension that can on occasion lead to headaches or a passing reduction of sensitivity of the scalp. Around a week after the intervention, the stitches are removed and the symptoms disappear.
Risks:
In rare cases, hematoma can occur accompanied by a small swelling. Hypertrophic scars may require correction or infiltration. Certain people may heal less well, especially if they are regular smokers.
